Text Box: Still in Myrtle Beach…..still dieting…..still enjoying the laid back atmosphere - and the weather is actually beginning to feel like Summer!  We noticed the RV Park has not been as full as it has been in previous years.  It is usually packed for Memorial Day Weekend, but this year there were some sites still available. Saturday morning breakfasts have not been as busy either.  We have had numerous different neighbors on both sides of us come and go and I wished I would have thought to keep count.

One of our neighbors, who was from North Carolina, recommended we drive up that way to Southport, about an hour from here and explore that coastal community.  There are a couple of Islands off shore, one being Bald Island.  We did just that and took the ferry across.  People don’t use cars on the Island, only bikes and golf carts.  Construction trucks and machinery come across on a special ferry and leave as soon as they are finished.  This Island is one of North Carolina’s best kept secrets.  It was so peaceful and quiet, with some lovely homes - some quite old.  We rented a golf cart and drove around the Island and ate at one of the few restaurants there, sitting out on the deck and viewing the harbor.  There is some limited shopping, but of course everything has to be brought in by boat. The ‘people ferry’ we took also had tons of cargo to load and unload.  Most of the pictures I have put in this newsletter is of that little excursion.  The Lighthouse is the old Cape Fear Lighthouse which is no longer in use and was replaced by the Oak Island light house.  We plan on coming back up and going over to Oak Island at another time.  The weather was perfect and had a great day.

The rest of our time has been spent giving the coach a good cleaning, reorganizing and getting ready for the rallies in  Georgia. I have also been trying to catch up on organizing my pictures, which I have sorely neglected.  Bob sends them to my computer and I have my own album with folders set up for my purposes.  I was only a couple of years behind!!  Well, enough for this month.  At least my newsletters are caught up!
